Whether are decorating, downsizing or moving and need some temporary storage, how you pack and prepare is key.  Here are a few helpful tips on how to get the most out of your Self Storage space.

Organisation

Although it might sound extreme and a little unnecessary having an inventory is a must.  Having boxes numbered and writing a brief description on a list will save you hours of going though different boxes looking for that one item, it won’t take long to forget what is where!

If you can, use the same size boxes.  This will allow you to be able to stack boxes on top of each other without them falling (hopefully).   Store breakables and boxes, you are least likely need at the back of the unit, this should limit the likeliness of something getting broken.

Space

Rent a unit that is the right size for what you need.  It is thought an average 4-bedroom house can fit into a 20ft Storage unit.

When storing your belongings use the space well to make sure you make the most of it.  Items that you think you might need often, keep stored at the front of the unit.  Don’t just pile all the boxes, sofa, table etc in.  Leave a small walkway so you can access the back of the unit, that way you will not have to unload your unit to get to one box at the back.

These are just a few helpful tips, over the next few months I will be posting more ideas of how to help make your storage process less stressful and simpler.
